We are deeply saddened by the passing of David Hamilton. He dedicated 25 years of service to our Association. We are grateful for his genuine kindness, generosity and willness to help even after stepping down 2 years ago. Our sincere condolences are being sent to his family. The OIBA will be supporting both of David’s charities: Scouts Canada and Bruyere Foundation. If you would like to attend the funeral service, it will be taking place tomorrow, Saturday January 8th at Calvin Christian Reformed Church located at 1475 Merivale Road at 11 a.m.
David passed away suddenly surrounded by his family in Colorado Springs, CO on December 22, 2010 at the age of 68.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Madeline, daughters Sheri (Kevin) Lattemore of Colorado and Linda (Marco) Hunstad of Calgary, AB and by his much loved grandchildren Kenndra, Cameron, Chase, Joshua and Kylee who will always cherish the memories they had with their Grandad. He is predeceased by his parents Percy & Dorothy Hamilton.
David was born in Halifax, NS but spent the majority of his life in Ottawa, ON.
He worked as a Financial Administrator for CUSO where he had the opportunity to travel the world which became a passion. His family would say he was never without a map in hand.
David also was the Business Manager for the Ottawa Insurance Brokers Association for many years. More recently, he offered his accounting services to Newton & Company and Keller Engineering.
David spent many summers at his Indian Lake cottage where he enjoyed hosting family and friends. He took great pride in teaching us all how to water-ski and exploring the beauty of the Rideau Locks system.
He was involved with Scouts Canada for nearly 60 years. He was awarded a national level medal, the Silver Wolf “for service of the most exceptional character to Scouting” by the Governor General.
A funeral service for David will be held Saturday, January 8th at 11:00am at Calvin Christian Reformed Church – 1475 Merivale Road, Ottawa.
