Peacefully on July 25, 2014 Donald S. Currey, founder of D.S. Currey & Son Insurance Brokers passed away.
‘Don’ was known for his quick wit and British humour. Before starting his insurance business in 1952 he had formerly been recruited by MI6 (British Secret Intelligence Service) at the young age of 14 due to his math skills. A very honest and trustworthy man he never divulged information about this time in his life as he always said he had taken an oath of secrecy. Later his served as a ‘Bobby’ in England and was on duty during the Queen’s Coronation. Once moving to Canada he became a member of the RCMP. One of his cherished possessions was a letter signed by J.Edgar Hoover accepting him into the FBI (his wife refused to move). His business continues with his children at the helm.
Visitation, service and reception will take place at kellys Funeral Home on Walkley Road on August 15, 2014 at 12pm. Donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
