GUEST SPEAKER SHARON LUDLOW, PRESIDENT, AVIVA INSURANCE COMPANY OF CANADA

We are pleased to announce our guest speaker Sharon Ludlow, President of Aviva Insurance Company of Canada.  Based in Toronto, she is responsible for the company’s strategic direction and business operations in Canada.  Previously, Sharon served as President & CEO of Swiss Re Canada.  Her previous experience also includes senior executive finance positions in a commercial property & casualty insurance company and a life insurance company.  She played a key role in the demutualization and IPO of Canada Life Financial and launched Kanetix – a consumers’ online insurance quotation service company.

Sharon holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and earned her CA designation in 1992.  She also holds an FLMI designation.

Sharon serves as Director of the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reductuion and The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and previously for The Canadian Life & Health Insurance Association.  She is a member of the National Catastrophe CEO Advisory Group of the IBC.  She also serves as Chair, Solvency & Capital Committee and previously as a member of the Adaptation to Severe Weather Strategic Committee and the Earthquake Oversight Committee of the IBC.  She served as a member of the Reinsurance Committee of the Canadian Life & Health Insurance Association; and as Chair and past-President of the Reinsurance Research Council.

Sharon was named by WXN one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2013; and one of the Top 50 Women in the insurance industry by Reactions magazine.

Sharon has actively volunteered for Junior Achievement of Canada and has held Treasurer and President and Chair of the Board positions for various non-profit organizations.

Tyler Johnston Zurich

We are pleased to announce our guest speaker Tyler Johnston, Western Canada Underwriting Lead at Zurich.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Economics from Wilfred Laurier, Tyler began his insurance career with AIG.  After 5 years as a Senior Underwriter on the Canadian Executive Lines team, Tyler transitioned to Zurich Insurance in Toronto where he has led the Western Canadian book of business for the Management Solutions Group over the past 2 years.  Aside from D&O, Tyler also has considerable knowledge in Fiduciary Liability, Crime Insurance, Employment Practices Liability and international insurance programs.  Tyler also holds an MBA from Wilfred Laurier and his CPA designation.

The Ottawa Insurance Brokers Association is pleased to announce the registration for the OPEN HOUSE 2015  is now open! 

The Open House continues to be the premiere event for all insurance professionals.  This year’s Open House will be held at the Aberdeen Pavillion on Wednesday April 8th, 2015.  
The event will kick off with a “Free Education Seminar” from 1:30PM until 4:30PM, with the tradeshow to follow (additional information about the Education Seminar below).

We are inviting all of our Associate Members and Insurance Companies to showcase their products and services.  In addition to OIBA brokers, we have opened up our doors to non-member brokers, the Ottawa Valley Adjusters Association, Risk Managers Association and all other Industry related professionals.

GUEST SPEAKER ROCCO NEGLIA, NATIONAL CLAIMS VICE PRESIDENT OF ECONOMICAL

Rocco Neglia Economical

We are pleased to announce our guest speaker Rocco Neglia.  As vice-president of claims at Economical Insurance, Rocco has leadership accountability for the company’s entire claims operation, including overseeing the management of claims for the its group insurer, Economical Select, and its subsidiaries Perth Insurance and Family Insurance Solutions. Upon joining Economical in 1996, he held various management positions with the claims department and was appointed to his current role in 2005. His depth of knowledge and extensive level of expertise were honed throughout his 30 years of experience in the Canadian property and casualty insurance industry.

Rocco is a member of IBC’s  National Claims Committee and the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction advisory committee.  

His presentation at the broker luncheon will be on “Navigating the New Normal – Trends in P&C Management”.

We are pleased to announce our guest speaker Donna Ince, who was appointed Senior Vice President, Personal Insurance and Commercial Insurance in July 2013.  Since joining RSA in 1995, Donna has held increasingly senior roles, most recently as Vice President, Ontario.  Donna led the successful integrations of both GCAN and CNS, two of RSA’s most significant acquisitions.  She had held various senior leadership roles in Claims, Personal Insurance and Underwriting.  Donna is a CPA and holds a CIP designation.
