We are pleased to announce our guest speaker Alister Campbell, CEO of The Guarantee Company of North America.  As CEO, Alister is accountable for driving The Guarantee’s continued profitable growth, and overall strategy and operations in Canada and the United States.

Over the past 28 years, he has held senior executive positions in a range of capacities within the life and property-casualty insurance industries including general management, marketing, brokerage distribution strategy, financial services and e-commerce.  Prior to his appointment at The Guarantee, he was CEO of the Canadian branch of a major global insurance company.

Alister has previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Property & Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation (PACICC) and as Deputy Chair of the Board of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC). Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Risk Institute in Financial Services and the International Surety Association.  Alister holds degrees from the University of Toronto, the London School of Economics and the Wharton Graduate School of Business.

The Ottawa Insurance Brokers Association is pleased to announce the registration for the 2016 OPEN HOUSE.

The Open House continues to be the premiere event for all insurance professionals.

This year’s Open House will be held at the Aberdeen Pavilion on Wednesday May 4, 2016.

We are inviting you to register for tickets and mingle with hundreds of brokers while enjoying live entertainment, music, food and great door prizes. 

This event is not to be missed!

A hospitality night will follow at Industria at Lansdowne Park, just a few feet from the Aberdeen Pavilion, which you can also register for.

Tom Reikman - Economical   Economical

We are pleased to announce our guest speaker Tom Reikman, B.Sc., MBA, CIP, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Economical Insurance.

Tom oversees national sales and distribution, claims and underwriting operations for the group of companies under the Economical banner, including Economical, Waterloo Insurance (Economical Select), Perth Insurance and Western General.  He is also the Chairman of the Board for Family Insurance Solutions in British Columbia.

Tom has more than 23 years of senior leadership experience in the property and casualty industry – including commercial underwriting, personal and group underwriting, marketing, and broker management with companies such as Aviva, Pilot, Axa and Wellington.  Tom worked previously for Economical in senior roles between 1995 and 2006.

Tom has a MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University, as well as a Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario.  Tom also holds his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.  He is a member of the IBC Market Regulation Committee and will be the incoming President of the Governing Council of the Insurance Institute of Ontario in 2016.

Are you interested in joining OIBA’s Machu Picchu Dream Team?? Only 14 spots are available on a first come basis (reserved exclusively for OIBA and our Associate members) to join us on a trek in Peru, to hike Machu Picchu in June 2013.

This climb will be guided by Shawn Dawson who is only the 8th person in the world to climb all 7 summits in under 2 years.  The money raised from this climb will be donated to one of Dream Mountains seven (7) charities.  Just image what it would feel like seeing this in real life …

The Ottawa Insurance Brokers Association is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the OIBA OPEN HOUSE.

Last year the Open House replaced the OIBA’s Meet The Underwriter Night and was extremely successful. This year it will be held in the Ottawa Congress Centre on Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Ottawa Insurance Brokers Association is offering two ” FREE ” education seminars prior to our ” Open House ” at the Ottawa Convention Center .

Both seminars run from 2pm to 4 pm and are RIBO accredited for 2 technical hours .
